The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim might be nine years old, but you’ll now be able to take it to an all-new level of performance. That’s thanks to a mod that raises the RPG game’s refresh framerate cap from 60Hz to 300Hz when playing fullscreen mode on supported displays. The Monitor Refresh Rate Uncap Skyrim mod by creator SlavicPotato tackles a feature of the game which means it runs using 60Hz settings in fullscreen mode even if you’ve set it to something higher on a PC capable of a higher rate. While it’s possible to find a workaround for this to achieve a higher framerate, the mod helps you achieve the results more easily. The modder explains: “With this patch the game should select highest available refresh rate in fullscreen mode (up to 300Hz max),” helping Skyrim players using 120Hz, 144Hz, and 240Hz monitors get the new results.
